Doing more with less!
Despite the improved water conditions in 2023, all of California remains under some form of drought. This coupled with the rising cost of farming and food production, Lopes Family Farms recognizes the need for doing more with less, in a sustainable manner.
Our vision is to help provide for our community by experimenting and adopting more climate-change resilient farming methods in hopes that we can spread awareness and adoption of them by like minded-farmers and people.
As a small rice farm, we are uniquely positioned to try new ways of farming that use less resources yet provide more food with the same land. Parallel and rapid experimentation is much easier when managing less land.
Our goal is to share what we learn with anyone interested in adopting these methods. We hope to foster a culture of cooperation and creativity amongst the farmers and community to encourage the adoption of new farming practices at all levels.
